The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds across much of Victoria, including Melbourne, Geelong and the Yarra Valley. Gusts up to 110 km/h are possible in alpine areas. The warning is current until tomorrow morning, with peak winds expected this evening. Winds are forecast to peak between 4pm and midnight tonight before easing from the west early tomorrow. The highest gusts are likely in exposed coastal areas – especially along the Surf Coast and Bass Strait – and in elevated terrain such as the Dandenongs and Mount Hotham.
